In great affairs men show themselves as they wish to be seen; in small things they show themselves as they are.
Baby Blog
I’m going to start off with the baby blog today because this (after all that sad baby blogness) is a super happy great baby blog, and you all deserve that on a Monday morning:
7 weeks!
Joy, elation, terror, overwhelming love! Today-today tiny pea, we saw your heartbeat. We both cried (Seth swears he just welled up, no tears), it was the biggest relief. There it was, sounding like cat throw up beating away, at 128 bpm. So fast. I have never cried so happy in my whole life. Not even on my wedding day. And watching Seth get all weepy faced with his big smile put me over the edge. I'm so very very glad that everything is good and you are here and now I can start celebrating and being excited. We are so, so blessed. My heart aches at how truly blessed we are.
Yesterday I proved my theory that the baby hates pickles. Which is HORRIBLE NEWS because I love pickles with a passion. I ate ONE pickle yesterday and power vomited so hard toilet water splashed back up into my mouth. Gross. The weirdest part was once I got the pickle out, I was still hungry and went back and finished my dinner like nothing was wrong. It was strange. Today my lunch isn't sitting so hot either, but work waits for no baby-so I have to suck it up and finish the day. Especially since this weekend we are going to Cheeto and Whitney's wedding (eeeek! It's going to be SO HARD not to tell people!) I'm secretly hoping you are born on St. Patrick's Day because if you are a boy-then I will name you Kellen, in honor of your St. Patrick's birth.
Weekend Review
What a busy weekend we had. Dad came over on Friday (Seth had to work late) and he put down the durarock (actually it was called fiber rock, but Dad kept calling it durarock) onto the laminate flooring of our entryway, there by banishing it forever! Yay! Seth came home just in time to help him glue it down and screw it into the existing floor. Then Dad and I went home and Seth and I went to Walgreens where we spent a stupid amount of money to get a gender test (the same one Kendra and Hank Baskett took) and I’ll just tell you now, you must need a degree in Chemistry for that stupid thing. We couldn’t figure out what color it was, so we are just deciding it was inconclusive and now I’m crabby for wasting 30 bucks I could have spent on the Grey’s Season 5 DVD’s coming out this week. After that we literally went to 3 fast food restaurants to get random things (the baby wanted different flavors) and went home to watch football and some shows off the DVR (Destination Truth and Hard Knocks). Around 10:30 Chet came over after he got off work to spend the night so he could wake up early and help us clean out the guest part of the guest bedroom and rearrange the storage closet with me.
Saturday Dad showed up around 10 and he and Seth got started on the floor. This proved very difficult for Chet and I as they were blocking the main thoroughfare thru the house. But Chet and I worked it out and got the storage room totally rearranged and got the giant dresser I’ve had since I was 6 (it’s a BEAST, my brother has the matching one) into the storage room snugly and still had room leftover! Next week, I’m going to see if Seth wants to tackle under the stairs…
Chet left for work at noon and Seth and Dad finished laying the tile (it has to sit for 24 hours before you can grout with the spacers in) so we all went to lunch over at the “Beyond Golf” which was a super cool place, it’s basically virtual golf, where you can play an entire course indoors. I’ve linked it if you are interested. I’m pretty sure it got my dad’s wheels turning about starting a winter league. The Nebraska game was going on so they had it up on all the screens, even the virtual golf course screens. We had a nice lunch and then Seth and I went to run errands.
And so began our battle at Alltel and Verizon. If you remember, last weekend after hours of the run around, we were told by Alltel to comeback in a week and they would set us up. We went back to that same Alltel and it had turned into a Verizon. And they couldn’t help us. We decided to give up and go look at Nebraska Furniture Mart for baby furniture since I had gotten the room almost cleaned out. Seth decided to call Alltel and give them the what’s what. After 45 minutes on the phone they basically told us Verizon was lying and we needed to go to a Verizon store and have them check our account where Alltel made a note that said we could change over. The closest store (after the scary baby furniture store we happenstance across) was a “Premium” dealer, which is basically like a McDonalds franchise, it has the McDonalds name, but it’s owned by local people and you never know what you are going to get. Long story short, these guys were VERY helpful and 4 hours later with the right coaching, Seth got Alltel to terminate our contract fee-free upon setting up new Verizon ones. Now here’s the part where it gets hinky, the store only carried certain phones, and of course they were mostly blackberries and ugly crap phones. I decided a long time ago to get a blackberry but not get the service to it, just the ability to make phone calls and text. The people at the store laughed at me, apparently this isn’t possible. So Seth and I both ended up talked into blackberries with a much higher bill then we had with Alltel. While I like the blackberry and love the convenience of it (I just forwarded our ticket for our trip to New York to everyone and I wouldn’t have been able to do that until I got home) I just don’t know if it’s worth the money. Especially with a baby on the way. I’m trying to see if we can take them back to a different Verizon store so I don’t feel bad since those guys worked so hard and spent 4 hours helping us get out of our contract…
Saturday night we came home and basically played with our phones all night. Seth has a loaner phone since I took the last Storm, we went back yesterday to get his Storm and of course they didn’t deliver them because this NIGHTMARE WILL NEVER END. He’s going to try again today. We still have one more battle with Alltel-we have to call today and say, our Verizon accounts are activated, delete our account and charge us nothing! And hope they remember the epic battle from Saturday. If not I’m pretty sure Seth’s going to start cussing.
Cody also stopped by with a friend late Saturday night while they were making their party rounds. They were only there about an hour, and honestly I was the worst host ever because I was like totally into programming my ringtones.
Sunday Dad came over and Seth and him finished the grouting work which took all of 10 minutes. Then I rode back with Dad to the house and spent some time with my mom who I hadn’t seen in like, forever. We went shopping and she bought me a beautiful dress (which I’m going to wear to our anniversary dinner on Sunday) and my favorite bubble bath from Bath and Body Works. (Black Currant Vanilla) We were going to get some fantastic sweaters from Ann Taylor loft that really helped my bloated pregnancy belly and would be nice for winter, but the saleslady told us the wrong ones were on sale and we weren’t about to pay 80 bucks for a sweater.
After that I came home and took a nap, then we tried to get Seth’s Storm and failed, then we went to the grocery store, I had a pregnancy meltdown because I was hungry and exhausted and I should have stayed in bed instead of getting up and wearing myself out. But Seth and my Dad talked me thru it (It included a lot of repetition of “I can’t do this, I just can’t, I’m just falling apart”) and then I ate some cottage cheese and made dinner and finished all of my stuff that I needed to do (apparently I COULD do it) and Seth helped. Then we watched Football and Mad Men and went to bed.
True story. The end.
Busy week ahead!
This week I have a meeting tomorrow morning (boo) and Wednesday we have our next checkup at the doctors (yay!) and then Thursday I have a full day of training so I won’t be blogging, but I’ll try to get some pictures up when I get home of the new tile, the new car, and other exciting stuff (not my baby lump).
*sidebar*
Here are some things I can tell your right now about being pregnant that you won’t read in the books. One, everyone woman’s body is different, so what they tell you will happen in the books actually might ONLY happen, since it’s a compiled list of a bunch of woman’s experiences. For example, I could blow the cats out of bed with my butt, but I’m not constipated, everything I’ve read is like “So we know you are frustrated being constipated…”no actually, I’m frustrated because I can’t figure out how to fart quietly at work.
During weeks 9-13 I had a HORRIBLE back pain that left me almost motionless when it hit. Apparently, according to my doc, the baby before that was behind my pelvic bone, as it got bigger and pushed over my pelvic bone, it pushed right into my sciatic nerve. Thanks tilted uterus! You probably don’t have a tilted uterus, but I pretty much thought by the time this baby got huge, I would not be walking. Blessedly, this has passed since the baby got out from behind my pelvic bone.
These last couple weeks I have been plagued by intense oncoming hunger, that if not taken care of immediately, leaves me feeling like I have the flu. Weak, achy, headache, nausea. We are going to talk to the doctor about it, because it’s not right, it’s like I need to eat but don’t have the energy to get up and feed myself because all I know is I feel like crap and I need to lie down. I have also had crazy mood swings.
But perhaps, the worst part of all, that they don’t tell you in the books and I’ve never heard a third trimester woman say, but there is NOTHING glamorous yet (at least in the first part, as far as I’ve gotten) about the second trimester. My skin has broken out worse, I can’t wear make up at all and have to wash my face 4 times a day. I’m in a weird in between stage where I don’t have a baby bump, I have a baby lump, I just look fat, and everyone is like “no, no” but people, I’ve had this body for 27 years. I know what looking and feeling fat is like. I know when I can’t put on a large shirt and not look like I eat at Golden Corral three times a week. I know those judgey looks from people in the store-I used to give them! I don’t have a beautiful baby bump yet. I have a fat lump. And I’m not kidding at all. Which is why I don’t want to take pictures of it yet, right now it’s probably the WORST part of pregnancy, this awkward stage. It causes me a lot of strife. Like Saturday I was trying to find a shirt to wear for errands and lunch and I gave up and put on the Nebraska shirt Jesse got me when he went to UNL. Then after sitting in Verizon for four hours, I suddenly felt like the ugliest frumpiest woman alive. They didn’t know I was pregnant. They just knew there was this girl in a oversized t-shirt and jeans, no make up, not washed hair, silently weeping on their credenza because she wanted a new phone so badly.
But the fun parts are starting the nesting and finishing up old projects and starting to see super cute baby clothes at Kohl’s and being excited to dress something tiny and sweet in them.
Maybe next week I’ll have a real bump or feel it move. But this week, seriously, you can’t convince me otherwise. Thanks for trying though, ask Seth, he gave up too. He just gives me his old t-shirts and holds me when I weep in the mirror. He’s a good husband.
Whoa Nelly!
2,300+ words? You lucky people you. Maybe I’m feeling guilty for abandoning you on Thursday. Alright off to work and to track down Janet’s performance on the VMA’s because I heard all the SYTYCD choreographers were in it!
Love (to be in week 18 or something already),

A timid person is frightened before a danger, a coward during the time, and a courageous person afterward.
9/11
Last night during the football game they had a little tribute to the 9/11 tragedy. I cried like no one’s business. I think the Steelers coach was crying too, which is another reason I kind of love him. But seriously, that was 8 years ago!?!? Geez. It feels like yesterday. Moment of silence ya’ll.
FOOLSball
Jesse ended up coming over last night and it was really fun. He kept calling Hines Ward “Steak Sauce” and Troy Polomalu “Palmolive”. Seth and I had a lot of fun before he showed up too, we made the chicken strips and went for a walk (me)/run (Seth) and had some good laughs about the Titans starting lineup (they all look like Mountain Men!) Jesse brought over my dead Grandma’s old Lazy Boy chair (I was admiring it when we were cleaning his trailer (FOR SALE HERE-http://omaha.craigslist.org/reo/1366863156.html !!) for the baby’s room, and that made me all squishy with happy inside. He stayed until the end of the game. I ended up crapping out at the overtime mark and going upstairs to get ready for bed. It was a good game though.
Weekend Ahead
So tonite my Dad is coming over to lay the durarock for the tile floor (YAYAYAYAYAYYA!!!!) and Chet is coming over at 10, after work, to stay the night. He’s going to wake up early and help Seth disassemble and move the guest bedroom downstairs before the tile is laid and move the new chair up the stairs. Then Dad will be over sometime to lay the tile and teach Seth how to do that. I will be steam cleaning the carpet in the “baby” portion of the guest bedroom and steam cleaning the chair Jesse gave the baby. I don’t know how long that will all take, but the only other thing I have to get done this weekend is to go to Alltel and get my new damn phone (jerks). Oh and sleep…a lot.
Random bathroom story
So yesterday, on my standard, pee before you get in the car and make a 45 minute drive, bathroom break before I left work-I went into the bathroom and for the first time in my short history in this building there was actually someone in one of the stalls (I go to a small out of the way bathroom and have never seen anyone in there which is why I like it). I started to suck it up and go into the stall next to it and there was a big huge mothertrucking spider right on the toilet seat. I panicked and ran out of the bathroom. I HATE spiders. That woman must have thought I was a nervous pee-er. Which I'm totally not. I just really hate spiders.
I was once trapped in my bedroom for like 6 hours before Jason and Pam came home because there was a spider in on the ceiling above the doorway and I was sure that it was going to slide down and bite me and kill me if I tried to leave. That experience gave me a bladder infection. Anyway so this morning, I get to work to do my standard, pee after you have made a 45 minute drive, and I go into the bathroom and the big huge mothertrucking spider has somehow fallen into the toilet and died. I went into the other stall. I could have just flushed it, but I’m pretty sure that spider is faking it and just waiting for me to come in there so he can eat my face off. I just went again (yay pregnancy) and that sneaky sucker is still there. It’s going to be a long day…
Random pregnancy complaints
What in the FLIP is happening to my belly button? It’s freaking me out. I always used to have this cute little belly button, it was rare, and it went vertically instead of horizontally like most peoples. But now it’s turning into a GIANT BLACK HOLE. I swear you could park a Cadillac in my belly button. Comfortably. It’s huge and it’s disturbing me. Two nights ago Seth made me cry because he told me it’s going to pop out like a turkey timer and the thought of that makes me even more upset because I HATE those belly buttons, they scare me. I’m not comfortable with them. So when that time decides to come (which I’m denying it ever will) I will be taping my belly button back down.
Also my stomach is making REALLY loud noises today. Not the “you’re starving to death” noises like it usually does, but the you are trying really hard not to fart and freak out your cube mate noises. I’m trying really hard but I'm full of gas!
See yesterday when the air conditioning crapped out and it started to get hot, I got REALLY crabby and started telling everyone that I was going to take off my pants because I was dying of heat stroke. My cube partner just looked at me in holy terror. I tried to reassure him by telling him that I would stay in my chair with my legs under my desk, but he just looked even more scared. So I’m trying to be nice to him since clearly I traumatized him yesterday and he can’t look me in the eye anymore. But in my defense, I’ve always said, being hot makes me the most miserable person to be around.
*sidebar* I also have to be nice to him since yesterday I stuck my big giant foot in my mouth around him. There is this trial going on for a CSI guy who they say tampered with evidence. Yesterday my news thingy popped up and said he got off and so I said aloud “Oh that CSI guy was found not guilty”. Cube guy looked like he was going to cry with happiness and said “Oh good, that means they won’t have to retry Christmas Eagle.”
*even futher side bar* Because I made SUCH an ass of myself yesterday, I’m trying to protect the details of this story by changing the name of the criminals and the crime in which he is referring” *end further sidebar*
So I, in my INFINATE AWESOMENESS and extreme tact-less-ness go “You mean that kid that killed that pregnant girl by throwing ninja stars at her?” (Again, not the real crime) And he was like “Yeah, that was my niece and my daughter’s best friend, we all had to testify at the trial and we just started to accept that she is gone”. Well…fuck…
So you see, I have to be extra not traumatizing to him today *end sidebar*
Baby Blog
Here is my attempt at being humorous and optimistic while facing possibly one of the greatest traumas of my life:
July 22, 2009
On my way into work today, in my shiny brand new car, I vomited, while driving, into my soup bowl.
I had just recently finished gobbling up a 100 calorie mini bagel with cream cheese. I took my vitamins (I learned pre pregnancy that I have to take the vitamins directly after eating or they hurt my stomach) and took off to work. Driving along I got to the part where traffic got SUPER BAD, not slow, just busy. My stomach started in with the throw up pain. Now usually I'm able to fight this down no problem and it passes. But all of the sudden, I knew this wasn't going to just pass. I started searching frantically around my shiny brand new Honda CRV that was only 3 days old to me for ANYTHING to puke in. I couldn't pull over, I couldn't even merge out of the middle lane. I drank water continuously to help the vomit come up easier because I knew the second I took my lips off that bottle I was going to spew. Dang you Seth for cleaning out my car! In the VUE I had multiple plastic sacks of garbage hanging around. They would have been perfect! Out of the corner of my eye I see my work bag has flung open in my speedy corner turning. In it is my bright green plastic bowl that I bring to work to eat my soup in. I weigh the option of if it will be big enough, and then I decide I have no other choice. Luckily earlier in the week when it was raining I decided I needed a hand towel in the front seat to wipe off the rain, so I had that as back up.
And then I puked, in traffic, in a bright green bowl. Luckily it wasn't too much since all I had to eat was the world's smallest bagel and some vitamins. I wiped up my face and put the bowl on the floor by my feet and held my breath until my exit where I could pull over and dump it out. Now I have nothing to eat my soup in at work. Nice.
I'm living every second in fear. I want your little heart to have started more than anything in the world. Seth and Kathy and Jeni are confident and strong. It's why I need them, I can't think about the worst. I'm trying to trust God and pray incessantly. I am so very, very scared.
Go forth!
Alright dear friends, I’m off to try to motor thru this day and get my weekend started. Hopefully I can catch a nap before my dad comes over. In my head I’m planning an escape plan and thinking of sneaking out a little early. For my sanity’s sake.
Have a great weekend everyone!
Love (when I’m not being a complete idiot to strangers),

Everything that irritates us about others can lead us to an understanding of ourselves.
Of course then I got on the computer to do my obligatory facebook and twitter and email check and realized it was Thursday and have been whiny and grumpy since. Fun!

I can say revitalized because I spent last Saturday revitalizing it. And then I spent Tuesday pouting on the blog about spending Saturday revitalizing it. So lots of elbow grease here people!

TV
I totally keep forgetting to mention that over the weekend I got sucked into an episode of MTV’s “Made” and it was all about this girl, who looked and acted like a dude and wanted to be a beauty queen. Anyway the point of the store was she was from North Platte Nebraska, and in like the first scene they show her and her friends practically eating a Runza out of business. Now having to watch about 100 Runza commercials, I know that Runza is totally a Nebraska thing, so I got all excited. But then I got disappointed because it was like the most stereotypical everyone in Nebraska is backwater story ever. The parents were decked out in Harley gear. All of her friends and herself were overweight. SHE USED TO PLAY FOOTBALL. She had like two cute friends and they were all goth and creepy. It made me weep for Nebraska’s youth. There are cool people here-I swear! Some with eating disorders and social acceptance dependencies!
I watched So You Think You Can Dance mostly in fast forward. I’m getting bad. I don’t care about the audition process at all. I hate the stupid auditions that are just put in there for laughs. I watch this show for the incredible dancing, not to watch delusional people make idiots of themselves, if I wanted to watch stupid stuff like that I’d watch Wipeout or something. Also I find people I really, really like, and then in Vegas week they cut them, so I try not to get too attached.
I also watched the season finale of Gordon Ramsey’s F word on BBC America and it was cute. He went head to head on dessert with Graham Norton (another BBC host favorite of mine) and it was hilarious.
I caught the tail end of the President’s address to Congress right before I started SYTYCD and he made a lot of really encouraging points and statements. I really hope we can get healthcare reform on the ball. The whole spiel about Ted Kennedy’s letter delivered after his death though made me sob like a two year old. I’m not sure why at all.
Baby Blog
Okay this one is a hard one for me today. This was probably the hardest day of my life to get thru. The hardest week of my life really. I mean you all know now that it had a good ending, but at the time. Man. I just felt so robbed and empty. You can tell in the post, which was written the day after our appointment, I sound so hollow and unable to process what I’m going thru. This is about the time I fell out of love with my fertility clinic. You never really go back to liking someone who shows you what the D&C paperwork you will have to fill out next week because you won’t listen to them and accept that it’s dead now. Thank God we didn’t.
July 21st, 2009
We had the baby's first ultrasound appointment today. They did a vaginal ultrasound, which is pretty uncomfortable. They couldn't find a heartbeat for the baby. I was devastated. Seth convinced me to not go to work and he came home and sat with me. He did a lot of research and called the clinic a couple of times to verify information-Seth thinks that I am not as far along as they think I am. He thinks I'm only about 5 ½ weeks. (hence why I stopped dating entries with how far along I am). We got back next Monday to do another ultrasound and hopefully they can find a heartbeat. The clinic was the WORST-they tried to kill any hope I had and literally tried to get me to fill out paperwork to kill the baby. They told us to prepare for the worst. How does one do that exactly? I don't want to be at work today, but I can't lay around and cry and worry anymore. All I can do is have patience and faith and rely on Seth to reassure me and keep my spirits up. That's all I can really handle right now.
Random thought
Wow, Ellen is going to be a judge on American Idol? I don’t know how to feel about that. I mean, I love her, but when she was a judge on SYTYCD she kind of just told jokes and feigned that she knew nothing about dancing so she wasn’t fit to judge anyone, but that as a normal person she loved it. I’m just hoping she will be more constructive if she is a judge on American Idol. Or I guess when she’s a judge. Oh well, gives me a reason to watch this year, huh?
Another random thought
They are going to turn Neverland into a theme park? Gross. Isn’t there better things for America to be spending its money on? Seriously people.
Parents?
I got a “Parents” magazine in the mail yesterday because I got bored a couple weeks ago and searched “Free baby stuff” in google and applied for everything that came up. Boy that magazine makes you feel like a failure at life. While it’s a good read, the fact that I don’t even think on the level of “Mom” totally freaked me out. Like there was a whole section on snacks and what kind of snacks to bring where, like to sports practice, school, and other events your kids go to. Dude, most days I can’t even think past what I’m going to eat for lunch-how is this going to work???!?!?
Are you ready for some tight pants?
Football starts tonite and Seth is so excited it’s almost catching. Almost. I’m going to make him Chicken Strips and Fries, using this recipe and maybe Chet and Jesse will come over and eat them all. Hopefully Seth gets home from work in time to help out. Otherwise I will be in the kitchen all night long.
Lack of pictures
Seth needs a cute picture of the beeps to enter them in the Lockheed Martin cutest pet picture contest. I went thru the blog trying to find some (since work blocks all my picture sites) and I realized I have been woefully not putting enough pictures on the blog. I’m going to try to remedy that this weekend for you all. Hopefully my new phone will be able to text pictures to the blog, apparently you can do that.
Here’s hoping tomorrow is Friday...
Seriously, it better be, or I quit life.
See you all tomorrow!
Love (for Seth to hurry up and invent time travel),

If at first you don't succeed, find out if the loser gets anything.
Good Morning.
Even though it’s Wednesday it feels like Monday and I’m about to fall asleep at my desk. I have no idea why I’m so tired, especially since the section of the baby book (Best book ever-Mayo Clinic Guide to a Healthy Pregnancy) says that I’m supposed to have more energy. It seems like the only thing that gets me thru the work day anymore is a promise of a nap when I get home and sleeping in on the weekends.
TV
Last night I watched “Manson” on the History Channel because Seth came home late and I was waiting for him. 2 hours later I know much more about Charlie Mason and the Tate Murders then I ever wanted too. I’m now calling home security companies too because they showed a picture of Sharon Tate, 8 months pregnant stabbed and I’m pretty sure I’m permanently scarred from that.
We also watched Design Star with dinner and that was interesting. I really did like Antonio’s design, even if he did get the boring assignment. An office? I like that he custom made the desks. And the choice of colors. Purple and Grey. It was very calming. I think they would make great wedding colors, but I don’t know anyone getting married…
I wasn’t super sorry to see Lorri (is that her name?) go, but Dan is starting to get a little insufferable.
FYI everyone! SYTYCD and Glee are brand new tonite!
Random pregnancy confession
Remember how I rubbed it in all your faces that my sweet loving husband spent hours chopping up veggies for me to dip in the ever delicious homemade hidden valley ranch dip I made? Yesterday, while watching the History Channel, I consumed half a bag of potato chips with my ranch dip. Not the veggies my husband spent hours slaving over to ensure our baby would have all the nutrients it needs for growing. Nope, half a bag of wavy lays. And it was DELICIOUS, if not for the guilt factor, I might do it again today.
First trimester blog continued
Just a warning for you all, there are some hard times coming up in the baby blog, and I don’t want to post all 50 pages of the blog at once, so I’m doing a little at a time, but it’s hard sometimes to read back and see how naïve I was in this moment:
5 weeks 6 days
I cycle between nervous and happy. Excited and anxious. The spotting came back yesterday which set me back a little bit. I thought it was getting better. It's all but stopped now, but you can imagine how that sets off my crazy head! I try to refrain from googling things but sometimes I break down and get the bejesus scared out of me. I just try to keep my faith strong and trust my body. My doctor says my levels are great and I'm not in any pain and no cramping so it's nothing to be concerned about-but still-I'm BLEEDING AND SPOTTING! I'm so blessed though because most women do not even get to see a doctor until week 8 (on Saturday I will be at 6 weeks!) and if the bleeding had happened and I didn't have the reassuring blood tests and doctors, I would have thought I had lost it last week. But luckily, because God directed us to this fertility clinic, I get to have doctors who will test my levels and let me call them on the weekends and reassure me. So maybe this was God's plan all along, the whole emotional roller coaster of infertility and that whole mess...maybe it was because he knew I would need to be in a place that would constantly make me feel better and reassure me-a normal clinic would not do that. I am so lucky that I have such a great group of people around me too who constantly reassure me and help me be more excited than worried. It really helps curb the nerves!
Some pregnancy effects I've had are loss of appetite which is the worse one because I know I need to eat so I force myself and feel sick afterwards. I haven't vomited yet so that's good. It's just the complete lack of desire to eat, like you know when you are at like camp and it's SO HOT you can't even think about eating and then you do and you just feel tired and your stomach hurts like you just ate rocks? That's how it feels every time I eat. I am also exhausted all the time, but I kind of love that because I have been having the BEST NAPS and SLEEP of my life. My lady humps also still look swollen and veiny. Gross.
But on Monday, we get to see the baby! For the first time! I’m so excited, it can’t get here fast enough!!
Weekend plans
In my fantasy world, sleep. In reality? My Dad might come over and do our front entryway tile and Chet (helpful brother in law) is coming over early Saturday morning to help breakdown the “guest” part of our spare bedroom and move things around so I can stop having panic attacks about how we are going to fit a baby and all its stuff into our house. This may be due to the fact I went into Babies R Us a couple of weeks ago with Seth and cried because there is just SO MUCH STUFF and I have no place to put it at all. Like zero space. Then last weekend we saw Target is having a “Baby Sale” and the high chair thingy I want is on super sale for half off and we couldn’t buy it because we have NO PLACE TO PUT IT. A meltdown of epic proportions ensued. When I finally exhausted myself into a nap, Seth started working on a plan to get stuff out of our storage room in the basement and bought some totes for the stuff he planned on putting in the tool shed and arranged for his brother to come help with the moving. We may actually get to use our 400 dollar steam cleaner we bought with our wedding money and have never used. And by we, I mean Seth because that sucker is HEAVY.
Or I’ll just sleep. I live by the wind. *snickers*
Oh all right, I’ll go, I’ll go.
Since I just got the go ahead to buy our tickets for New York City in October (Seth keeps insisting that we are going to see a REAL football game, as if our trip to Kansas City last year to see the Chiefs was a fake football game or something) so I’d better get on that.
2 more days this week everyone, hang in there! I know, it feels like a longer week than a normal, not short week!!!
Love (action plans that don’t involve me),

I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.
Weekend recap
Friday we ended up going to Texas Roadhouse with Pam and Jason. We had a really good time, it was nice to see them again and we made plans to have a Wii game night sometime in the future. My only complaints were that the wait was LONG and we sat outside and weird bugs attacked us. Also I felt really bad for the servers. I hate places that make you stop in the middle of taking an order to dance or something stupid. Plus the music was super loud so we could hardly hear each other. But like I said, it was fun to see them and we need to see them again soon.
Saturday we woke up early and tried to go to Verizon to get our new phones before we headed over to Jesse’s trailer. What a FREAKING NIGHTMARE. We went to the Verizon store on 72nd by the new Walmart. Seth had been in there before to find out some info about when we could change over from Alltel. We went in and the guy was all jazzed to help us, but when he looked up Seth’s number he found out that Seth’s number (which he’s had forever, so it’s a Columbus number from high school) is in one of the “hold back” area’s, which basically means we can’t change to Verizon for another year, as long as we have that number. We suggested just changing the number, but they guy told us it would be considered a cancellation of our contract and we would have to pay the cancellation fee of 200 bucks or something. I start FLIPPING OUT because I wanted a new phone and this guy was being just ridiculous not even trying to help. Then out of nowhere this other guy starts tapping on my foot and then motions me to a dark corner. In my head I’m like, dude, that’s my HUSBAND and we are not into threesomes or swinging. But I go because I’m about four seconds from punching the “helpful” guy in the face. The guy in the dark corner tells me he used to work for Alltel and we should just go there to get the change over and they will take care of us. I thank him and we leave to the Alltel on 72nd by Nebraska Furniture Mart. It is packed and full of really overweight people. We basically find out that we can’t change Seth’s number until the 11th, so we have to come back then. I kind of wanted to cry, but at least it’s not a year. I was really looking forward to spending the weekend learning how to use my new phone. So I was a little disappointed. Which kind of turned out as a theme for the day.
Jesse’s trailer was a freaking pit. It was so gross, I was just in charge of vacuuming shelves and organizing things into boxes. Maybe it will look different with new carpet, but right now, I wouldn’t live there if you paid me too. I had no idea it had gotten so gross. I guess Jesse had LOTS of parties. But by the time we left, I felt a lot better about it and felt a little less guilty that my parents were struggling to get this place cleaned up and Saturday was the first day I offered to help. It seems they have a good plan in place, and there isn’t much more to do besides to have Jesse go thru the boxes and re do the carpet. It was good we went through because if we didn’t, Dad would have tried to do all the lifting himself and that would have aggravated his hernia. Plus I got some free lunch out of the deal and really didn’t have to work all that hard. And I had fun talking to my mom when Seth left us stranded without keys to drive to get food. We laid on the bed and laughed a lot.
After lunch we ran errands but of course I forgot that the mall we went to didn’t have half the stories I needed. I went to Old Navy to look at their maternity stuff only to find it’s been discontinued and they no longer carry it in stores. Then I went to Gordman’s and found out their maternity line is independent or something and you can’t get any of the discounts they offer on the clothes, so I paid 25 dollars for a pair of pants and cried (I’ve never paid that much for pants in my life) only to find they didn’t really fit yet, I’m still not round enough for them. But I did get some sweet bath sheets on clearance at Bed Bath and Beyond so that made me happy. Saturday night we watched football and I went to bed around 12.
Sunday I woke up early and practiced using the griddle that Pam lent me to make the English muffins. I made one heck of breakfast. I figured if we ate a good later breakfast we wouldn’t want to eat lunch out (and I was right!) Seth was so sweet, I was trying to surprise him but I thought I had broken the griddle (that would be my luck) because the light kept going off and I thought it was shorting out or something, so I woke him up and that’s when he informed me it was the preheat button. Oh. Oops. After that we went back out and go to the stores at our mall that we missed Saturday. Then we went to Target and Seth talked me into this expensive belly band thing that helps keep the new pants up. I got a couple of longer shirts too. I’m in a very weird in between stage right now the maternity clothes don’t fit, but my old stuff doesn’t either. Let me tell you, the band really helps. I’m almost glad I paid near 20 bucks for it. We came home Sunday and I made a lovely beef stroganoff for Seth and a delicious tomato cream sauce for myself and Seth cut all the veggies up so I could have dippers for after work snacks and salad all week at work. Then we watched something on TV, I don’t recall what and went to bed.
Monday I literally laid around and watched Gangland on History Channel and the Criminal Minds marathon on A&E. I know, I know you want to know about the English Muffins…
Something about my recipe wasn’t right. I don’t know if it was the ingredients of the flour, but something didn’t hold well. They are basically like hard tack biscuits. They didn’t get the little air pockets to hold the butter or anything. I’m pretty sure I’m just not a baker. If I get my own griddle (as I’ve instructed Seth’s to tell his parents would be a nice birthday present) I might try them again and see if I can use soda water or buttermilk or something different. But until then, I’ve given up, I suck at baking. Plus it TOOK FOREVER, easy peasy my arse. I had to wait for the dough to rise twice and then cook them on the griddle, and because the dough wasn’t light enough, then I had to throw them in the oven.
Around 5 Seth and I got the motivation to work in the yard, we bought 2 burning bushes to replace that horrid prairie grass in our planters at the end of the driveway. Seth dug them up and mowed. I raked mulch and helped with the planting of the new plants.
Then basically we watched some TV and went to bed. Only late because there was one last episode of Gangland on before we went to bed. I got Seth hooked on it around 2 o’clock so he was all into watching it too.
Random TV notes
I still love Kevin the best on Top Chef and I decided that I don’t like any of the crews on ABDC and don’t want to watch it anymore. And I think Shane Sparks and JC and Lil Mama should have a dance off, and the loser has to leave the panel. That’s just what I think.
First trimester blog:
And now, your first installment of my first trimester blog. This entry is the first one I wrote and it explains a bit about the background of our struggle with the first trimester, I warn you, it’s me, so it’s kind of graphic:
5 weeks and 4 days
I can't take it anymore, I have to bang out my thoughts during the first trimester. According to tradition (*blows raspberry*) and my wonderful husband (*sticks out tongue*), I can't tell my blog about it. I can't write about and post it on the world wide web. He's already mad I've told my closest friends. He'd be even madder if I told him everyone at work knew, but that's because we are a close group and this is a good group of women who have been helping me thru our "infertility issues" so they deserved to know, and also, I vomited in a trash can at work and they aren't idiots. Plus they have been the most loving and caring women through these last couple of scary weeks.
Oh wait, I guess I need to backtrack, huh?
Well a couple of months ago we found out we had "fertility issues", I say this in quotes, because right now, it seems we have no problems at all. All we needed was a Hindu fertility statue from my Aunt, a Hopi fertility god put under our mattress (thanks Mom for buying those cut outs for my RA welcome bags years ago-which BY THE WAY-things make worlds of sense now, like how 3 girls on my floor got pregnant in one year, and thanks to the pack rat in me for never throwing them away), and precision scissor kicks and butt elevation after intercourse for ½ hour (this requires a book and a man servant for sure.)
We were referred to the Heartland Center for Reproductive Medicine by our doctor and found out that we would be trying IUI. It was a VERY emotional process. Maybe in some other blog post I will get into all of that (because I've devoured the blogs trying to find a good blog about supporting your infertile partner-they don't exist)-but let me tell you, I like came this close to joining a infertility support group because the information and acronyms and all that's involved with it is so overwhelming and scary. I went thru a horrible HCG procedure that made me seriously want to die. One of my tubes had a little blockage on the left hand side, and they thought it would be a great idea to just force the dye thru to unclog it, the pain was UNREAL. Plus there was a clamp on my cervix, which I mean come on, that statement alone should make you cringe.
But on July 6th, after waiting incessantly for my period to start (and us to start the IUI process), we decided we had waited entirely too long (so says mathematician husband) and we took a test that morning before I went to work. It was positive. I freaked out-I was so excited, Seth was happy but wanted to wait for the blood test. We scheduled the blood test for the next morning. I called my parents, I was so excited-Mom screamed! We got the results of the blood test and it was true! With a beta level of 126-I was definitely pregnant! We were so excited.
The excitement was not long lived though. Tuesday night after shopping at Sam's Club, I was dancing while Seth was making pizza in the kitchen (my "we are having a baby" dance). I had been suffering from a horrid allergy attack the entire day-unfortunately, I couldn't take my "clear it up in half a second" medicine since I was like, making life in my lady bits. I sneezed mid dance, and something exploded in my underpants. I knew something wasn't right. I ran to the bathroom and lo and behold, dark red blood. I FREAKED. We called nurses line on our insurance, and I got put on immediate bed rest. I was up all night freaking out. I took Wednesday off because I didn't sleep. All I knew is I needed to talk to someone from MY clinic. Our next level check wasn't until Thursday. As soon as our clinic opened Wednesday, I called, by then the bleeding had turned to brown spotting (actually the bleeding was only red blood in that sneeze spooge). The internet had scared me, I was sure I was miscarrying. My whole heart was dying. Our WONDERFUL nurse, Tara, who takes my blood (and if you know me, I don't do that well, at all) reassured me that it was a common issue some women have, and as long as the spotting was brown and there was no cramping, I was okay. Or the baby was okay. Thus began the LONGEST day of my life-Wednesday. Around 2 I panicked went to Walgreens and bought a ton of pregnancy tests and called my mom to come sit with me. Seth had class the whole night and I was tired of being alone with the internet and my hypochondriac mind. It was awful. It's one of the worse hell's I've been in. I felt like I was letting everyone down, especially Seth, who our reproductive endocrinologist blamed our infertility on. This was, for all intensive purposes-a miracle baby-our miracle baby. Even the clinic classifies it as something special (okay a spontaneous pregnancy, which sounds horrible like the baby is going to explode At! Any! Second!) It was awful. Thursday morning we went in and then waited for our results. I went to work and lived in torture for those hours until we got our results. For those of you who don't know, typically they like to see your beta levels double every 48-72 hours when you are pregnant. My level was 318. A GREAT level. We were back on cloud nine.
We finally told Seth's parents, since we held off during the first bleeding scare. They were so happy. We told Seth's brother's the next day, they were excited too. We all couldn’t believe we had done it naturally.
That weekend we were taking it easy and being happy and I got up from a nap and had the red blood spooge again. I FLIPPED. We called the emergency answering service at our clinic and this time our doctor called us back. Let me tell you, I linked our clinic for a reason, if you are struggling with infertility in the Omaha area, I cannot stress enough what a WONDERFUL place that clinic is. Especially Dr. Maclin. She reassured me, gave me her personal cell phone number, and brought me down to a sane level. It was amazing. Right after I talked to her, the spotting went immediately back to brown and I was on bed rest the rest of the weekend (I kind of love bed rest when Seth is there-because he gets bed rest too and it's like being on vacation) We got our third level test the following Tuesday and it was 2786-which is STELLAR! Our first ultrasound, to see the heartbeat is next Tuesday and we are really, really excited and hopeful.
I still have brown spotting, all though its light unless I’m standing up for an extended period of time, and it's still brown, no recurrence of blood. I know I will feel much better when we have the ultrasound and there is a heartbeat and it's all so REAL.
For now I pray extra extra hard, to anyone that will listen, even pleaded to my dead grandma to help out if she is up there. I carry an olive tree cross from Jerusalem in my bra that a teacher at my last visit to Jesus Camp gave us. I remember the love and energy and the power of all those women and it really helps to carry that reminder with me. I also know they are praying, even if they don't know exactly what for, for me too. And that is a big relief.
I have no big complaints yet, mostly a random upset stomach and waves of nausea but no real throwing up. I really have no desire to eat at all-so I have to force it, which gives me an upset stomach. LOTS of gas-so much so that I woke up Seth out of a dead sleep Sunday morning and he thought the house was falling down or he rolled over on Willow. My breasts are tender but mostly veiny, which is super gross, they are about to be too big for my bra. My BIGGEST thing though is sleep. When I get home from work, I need a nap from 4:30-6:30. It's the best nap I've ever had. But it has to be done. I can still go to bed at 11 with Seth, and wake up and still feel tired. I'm just exhausted, but if I'm exhausted because I'm growing a brain and a heart and lungs-CALL ME RIP VAN WINKLE!!!
Working for the weekend
This weekend Chet is coming over to help disassemble the guest bedroom so we can start planning for the baby’s room and steam clean that carpet. Other than that, I plan on more bumming around in my pj’s and helping to decide what is going out of the storage room to the tool shed and what is staying in the storage room. And also dragging Seth to Target and seeing if I can talk him into buying the baby crib I like already. We will see, I think he won’t let me.
Phew, that was a long blog post-hope you all have a great day!
Love (being able to talk about the Bean freely!),

From the fullness of grace we have received one blessing after another
Alright world, are you ready for the big announcement??
I don't know if you should be more excited about the announcement or the fact that I'm blogging on a holiday.
Okay, Okay I know what you are here for-here it is:
Seth and I are very excited to announce that in March 2010, we will be having a baby! I'm currently 13 weeks and 3 days pregnant. We are very very excited, and very very blessed.
I'm not kidding when I tell you all (and that you will eventually read about), that for us, this is a miracle baby. Not only did we have a world of tribulations with conceiving, we have had a lot of ups and downs with the first trimester, it's why I have waited so long to announce it on the blog and to the world.
We are blessed to have a lot of people in our lives that helped and supported us thru this first trimester of our pregnancy. Our family and our friends (the few who knew) have been unfailing in their love and support of us. Thank you so much for everything Thank you for your prayers, your guidance, your words of wisdom and your love. We wouldn't be here without you all (okay I wouldn't be here sanely without all of you letting me freakout 10 times a day about weird pains or strange new body changes). Bless you all for your patience.
Most of all thank you for to my loving husband who routinely carries things, brings me food, gets me special food, reads all the books, and also calms all of my fears. The loving husband who not only works 40+ hour weeks, and has two nights of three hour masters classes every week, has still managed to take over the things I can't do anymore or am slowly losing the ability to do. A very special shout out for cleaning the toilets after every power vomit session. I love you so much, and I can't wait to see you be a wonderful father as I know you will be.
We call the growing baby “The Bean”, because the first time we saw it, it was shaped like a bean and it just stuck. The other option was calling it “cat barfing” because that's what I said the baby's heart beat sounded like when I first heard it. Bean is much better.
As you may have guessed-I did keep a blog during my first trimester. I plan on posting bits of it here when I'm under 1500 words. So look forward to that, and all the excitement and the excitement of hearing all about the baby making I'm doing!
So to all of you who traveled over from facebook, thanks so much! Stick around, there is more to come! We will actually be posting most of our baby/new family stuff here., instead of on facebook, including pictures. I 'm trying to phase out the super personal stuff on facebook since I know half of you that did the curious click over here, probably won't make it back, but now you know our exciting news!
Thank you VERY much to all of the regular blog readers who come here every day to here me blabble about anything and everything. Sorry that it has been especially babbly, its hard not to talk about the one thing you want very much to talk about-so thanks for sticking with me!
Once again, thank you so much to everyone, we love you very much and we can't wait to share in the joy and learning of our first child.
Stay tuned! See you tomorrow, same time, same place!
Love (the fact that we are going to be parents),
Carrie and Seth

I hate the outdoors. To me the outdoors is where the car is.
Nightly recap
So last night after running out of my building with my arms over my head screaming with joy, I started my drive home. It was rainy and dreary and lovely. But by the time I made it into Omaha, the rain had stopped and the sun was starting to come out. Boo. I got home and picked up the house a little bit and went thru the mail and let Chet in and promptly went to bed. Seth and Chet worked out and got ready for the first college football game. Then Seth woke me up and we went to Qudoba to grab something before the game started. Then we came home and I convinced the boys the game was boring and we watched Hard Knocks on HBO (love that show) then I went upstairs and took a bath and called Pam and then pretty much went to bed. It was 8:30. I drifted in out of sleep, reading my book or watching the Michael Jackson funeral (don’t ask, I don’t know, it was on Anderson Cooper 360) and Seth came to bed about 1 from watching football. And surprisingly, he was very quiet. It was the cat that woke me up.
A word about brother in laws.
Sometimes brother in laws do bad things, like snap off their house key in your deadbolt. And they feel really guilty about it. But I’m going to go on record and say Chet is a pretty good one. He takes care of our lawn in the summer, scoops up the rotten apples that have fallen off the tree, lets the cats play in the yard while he sits and watches them, and last night he brought his Mom’s dirt pudding (his own stash) which is like the greatest dessert ever. Oh and I off handed mentioned to Seth that he needed to bring me some pop in and while we were at Qudoba getting food, Chet not only brought in the soda I wanted, but put it in the fridge for me so I had a nice cold one for dinner. Bonus points. So in retrospect, snapping his house key off in my deadbolt is not even ranked on my list of things that Chet does. Most of that list is all the nice things. Thanks Chet, not that you read this, but thanks.
Ahem *clears throat*
So listen, friends of the blog, there is going to be a BIG SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT coming on Monday. I know, I know, I don’t usually blog on weekends or holidays and especially not HOLIDAY WEEKENDS. But this announcement is that exciting and special. So just you hold onto your hats for that one.
Yawn
In other news, I have nothing else to say besides I’m bored and I wish this day would hurry up. Seriously. I have so many fun plans for the weekend. Most of them involve hanging out in my underpants, on my couch, watching TV and eating good things.
For example tonite we are having dinner with Pam and Jason (I will wear pants) but we are going to try some place new that we’ve never been! (We haven’t decided, I’ve sent a list of suggestions to Pam). Saturday we are going to help my brother clean out his trailer and the do all our shopping errands and then I’m thinking that I will make Seth my super yummy beef stroganoff. Hopefully I can make a mass quantity of it since Seth has requested that I start making more massive meals that can be frozen because we have been eating out too much. The last time we got this way we couldn’t eat out for a month and it damn near killed me. So I will try to make that this weekend. I’m trying to think of something else. I think Sunday or Monday I will force him to clean the chicken tenders so I can make freezeable chicken strips for him. We bought a bag of tenders on sale so there shouldn’t be too much cleaning involved, but he hates that.
Also secretly, either Sunday or Monday (and yes it’s a secret because my husband is too busy to read my blog right now) I’m going to make him breakfast in bed. Pancakes, Eggs, and Bacon. Because he’s a good husband. I’m also going to use the griddle I borrow from Pam to make those English muffins we talked about ages ago. But mostly I will be trying my hardest to hang out in my underpants, on my couch.
Oh the shopping errands will consist of going to Zales to get my ring checked (every six months to keep the warranty intact and picking out more jewelry that Seth can buy me) and going to Verizon and getting a fancy new PINK BLACKBERRY! (They are buy one get one free, now I won’t have blackberry service, but at least I’ll have texting, finally) going to Old Navy and Gordmans, and now it sounds like going to the grocery store to get stuff for stroganoff and breakfast. So that’s pretty darn exciting for me, because I get my ring all shined up and a fancy new phone.
That is the sound of my dang head exploding…
Seriously, it’s only 9:41? Come on now karma, I’ve been good all week. I only thought one or two random hateful thoughts and I swerved to avoid hitting that crazed hitchhiker I think that gets me some kind of time warp!
That’s it I’m leaving
Okay all, here’s the part where I tell you to have a fantastic weekend, but don’t forget to check back in Monday for the announcement. I’ll see you then!
Love (holiday weekends),
Carrie

Think twice before you speak, and then you may be able to say something more insulting than if you spoke right out at once.
Some new blogs I’ve been stalking
Recently, I stumbled across some great new blogs that I’m following now. You follow them too, then we can talk about how hilarious the writers are. You know how I like to share.
First up is http://www.amalah.com which is a great blog and my favorite part of the blog is when she takes old books from like the 70’s and makes fun of them. The “When you marry” book and the book about microwaving food had me rolling in my cube and people look up from studying in the library and stare. She has lots of archives so it’s like reading a book at work. I love her style of writing too.
Next up is http://www.mytworedshoes.com/ . I love this woman’s sense of style and how she has decorated her Georgia home, it makes me miss my time in Peachtree City. Her dog is adorable too. And she takes amazing pictures.
I stumbled across this one when I was checking the blogs of note one day, http://snarkypants.com/ she is pretty funny. She posts a lot of survey’s, which is where I have been getting some of the survey’s I have been doing recently (in fact, her one today do looks fun to do)
And finally http://thepioneerwoman.com/ I haven’t really dug into this one yet, but I know she is really popular on the web, I’ve seen her linked on a couple people’s sites.
Speaking of the survey…
When was the last time you cried?
-Oh yesterday, I cry all the time for stupid reasons. I think this one was in relation to some TV show I was watching. Probably a True Life or something where some dumpy girl gets a makeover. That was my dream in high school.
What made you angry this week?
-Work. Work always gets me fired up, mostly because I’m bored and frustrated with people. And my Internet Explorer keeps crashing-stupid computer.
What was the happiest day of your life?
-Probably every day I have with Seth. I have a feeling they are about get a whole lot happier.
Have you ever laughed until you cried?
-I conquer with snarkypants, if you have ever seen Eddie Izzard, you know the answer to this.
Have you ever laughed so hard you peed your pants?
-Um…okay fine, YES.
Have you ever been suspicious of someone?
-Unfortunately because of recent circumstances in my life-I’m suspicious of most people. Sorry, it’s just the way it goes, screw me once, shame on you, screw me twice…
What was the last thing you envied?
-A lot of the time, I envy popular bloggers like the ones I listed above. My ultimate goal in blogging is to be like www.dooce.com and have enough readers and ad revenue that I can live at home in my pj’s and still be hilarious. The other day I was envious of my mom’s backyard. It’s such a oasis, but my parents work really hard on it, way harder than I’m willing to work on mine!
Are you sarcastic?
-I prefer the term smartass, or hyper sensitive to the deficiencies of others around me.
Have you ever had your heart broken?
-Please, I spent most of high school and college with a broken heart, lamenting after stupid boys who I may or may not occasionally google.
What is the last thing that disgusted you?
-Certain behavior of some close family members and friends. I don’t understand people’s motivation to hurt sometimes. I myself have been guilty of gossiping about people, but it really hurts when it involves yourself and people you never ever meant to hurt. Lesson learned.
Have you ever been truly afraid because of a scary movie?
-I am always afraid of scary movies, especially if they involve creepy little kids. Pam taught me a pretty good technique though for when I get too scared, just go to sleep. I spent many a movie at their house snoozing on the couch.
What is your biggest regret?
-Most of my regrets are based around relationships from my past that have destroyed me or my loved ones in one way or another, mostly because I was responsible for letting these people into our lives.
Have you ever had an obsession?
-Have you ever heard me talk about television? It goes back to the when I was growing up in Europe, we only had one channel-AFN. Now I have hundreds of channels and I can fast forward thru stupid commercials, and THEN they invented the DVR and I seriously considered maiming myself so I would get to stay home and watch TV in bed for the rest of my life, does that count as an obsession?
Do you feel pity toward others who have less than you?
-Pity…is pity the same as sadness? I think when I do see people who have less than me, I feel more grateful for what I do have.
What is your biggest fear?
-Death. Hands down. Any form of it. I also hate when people tell me if I was really strong in my faith that I wouldn’t fear death. I don’t just fear my death, I fear my loved ones deaths too. I never like losing people in my life, and I don’t want to leave people behind either.
What was the last lie you told?
-I just told my boss I was working really hard.
Have you ever cheated in a game among friends?
-Pam and Kathy-shut your mouths-YOU KNOW NOTHING!!!!
Who was the last person you flirted with?
-Does it count as flirting if the gross old men at work flirt with me and I just laugh at them and try to run as fast as I can? No? Um…wow, I seriously can’t remember. It was probably some dude at Pepperjax I was trying to get to give me more fries.
Have you ever seen an image that made you physically ill?
-Jake keeps trying to get me to watch this video that he promises will make me vomit. No thanks, I’m cool with keeping my apple juice on the inside this morning.
TV
Did you watch the So You Think You Can Dance special last night?!!?! I was so excited!! They showed all my favorites! My top two are Ivan and Allison’s “Why” dance and “Hometown Glory” by Joshua and Katee. I was a little bummed there was no Twitch, since he was pretty great, but I get it, if I had my vote it would only be season 3 and 4 stuff anyway. Here’s hoping this next season gets us back on the love train-it starts NEXT WEEK!!! CAN’T WAIT!
Oh and did you see the director’s cut of Glee? I only got a couple minutes into it before Seth wanted to close down for the night, but I just reiterated how excited I am for this show to start up!
Fall TV is almost upon us kids! I’ll have to revise and work my Fall TV schedule again.
Rain, Rain, come and stay, don’t you ever go away!
I wish it was going to pour this weekend like it is now. That way, I could spend my weekend in complete luxury, cat napping on my couch and snuggling with my kittens and my man when football is on. And hopefully convincing my man that an upstairs flat screen is a grand idea. Right after he buys me a blackberry. SPOILED! Okay not totally spoiled, I still have some convincing to do.
Good Luck, and Good Night
Okay friends, I’m off for the day. Try not to miss me too much, if you do, hit up the comments. I check them all day. Tell me what you think of the new blogs I linked and show their comments some love too.
Love (Thunderstorms and SYTYCD),
Carrie

The thing I hate about an argument is that it always interrupts a discussion.
Morning Suck
I woke up and wondered why my alarm hadn’t gone off. In fact I laid in bed and wondered about it for TWENTY MINUTES. I finally decided to look and I was twenty minutes late. Awesome. It might have had something to do with the fact that I talked to Pam and my mom on the phone in the bathtub last night. My phone is like on vapors, I seriously need a new one. Anyway I was a bad wife and didn’t make Seth’s breakfast and ran thru the house like a mad woman (put on the same pants I wore yesterday-oops) and bolted to the car only to find that I had 33 miles left of gas. Granted it was enough to get me to work, but not enough to get me home. The only gas stations along the way have their prices set at violator, so I really didn’t want to get gas there. *sidebar* I love the location of our house, but my only complaint is it is NO WHERE near a convenient gas station. Now I may be spoiled because when I lived with Pam and Jason there was literally one within walking distance, but let me tell you, there is nothing like a giant soda fountain drink for 50 cents to go with whatever you just picked up for dinner. It will last you all night. So I find the fact that I have to go almost 4 miles down the road to get gas almost unbearable. *end sidebar* So at that point I just gave up and knew I was going to be late. I put the gas in my car and let the Garmin tell me how to get back on the interstate the fastest. When I came to my highway route, there just happened to be a crazy hitchhiker running from police and trying to throw himself into traffic. So of course, we all had to stop so that we wouldn’t hit the crazy hitchhiker, or the police man chasing him. He did do a pretty sweet Dukes of Hazard move over the cop car hood to evade the cops a little more. And then I saw a road kill cat and that made me sad. The end.
H1N1 flu
This stupid flu is starting to sound scary. Yesterday they threatened to lock down UNO and Creighton (local colleges) and then some school in Omaha had 176 students out, and most of them have flu symptoms. So Seth made me promise to start washing my hands in the bathroom. So I’m using the hand sanitizer outside the bathroom, which I think is pretty much the same thing, if not better. Plus I have it on my desk, and I just lysoled the Holy Ghost out of my desk, keyboard, and phone. It smells like the playhouse that was in my grandma’s backyard now. I’m still on a mission to find a phone cord that doesn’t look like it was a prop in a sewer worker’s strip tease, but at the moment I have failed. I found one that wasn’t as dirty, but it was stretched out and about 8 feet long. I’m currently scoping out conference rooms to see if they have anything better.
TV
Last night we caught up with America’s Best Dance Crew (I’m not even sure why I’m still watching this show, I don’t like anyone on it besides Shane Sparks) and Design Star. I’m torn about Design Star. I like Antonio, but he’s kind of a jerk and I think Dan could win, but I think he’s a whiner and HGTV already has a good looking buff gay guy show. I was okay with him until last night’s episode when he totally wouldn’t own up to blowing the budget on that plastic horrid thing in the yard. That chick is just rough to look at and she’s a terrible host. So anyway there’s my thoughts on Design Star. Just so you all know, there is a SPECIAL So You Think You Can Dance on tonite with the top 15 dances from the past seasons. Also the Glee pilot is re-airing so catch it if you can-it’s going to be a phenomenal show!
Giggles
So when I’m in the doldrums of a day, I go to www.peopleofwalmart.com and get my giggle on. You should go too. Sometimes it takes a while to load because it’s a little ole site and it’s very popular, but you should go. My favorites include people wearing little or no clothes (they woman with no pants) and mullets. Today I like the one that says “please don’t touch the baby!” I live in fear though that I will end up on that site because Lord KNOWS I love going to Walmart looking a hot mess. I’m just trying to fit in, Seth just tries to ditch me in the aisles.
Random thought
I think I will make chicken strips and French fries for Thursday because it’s the first college football game and Chet is coming over and it takes an entire farm to actually get this kid full, and I bought a back of chicken tenderloins last week, so making chicken strips will be a breeze, and if I get on it right when I get home, they should be done in time for the game.
Or I could sucker Seth into going to Qudoba…hmmm…decisions, decisions…
Another random thought
When we go out with Pam and Jason this weekend, where should we go? I can’t really think of anywhere even though all Pam and I do is talk about new restaurants we want to try. Mine are mostly Mexican. I think I’m going to let her decide. That way I can be sure that Jason likes where we are going and gets something yummy to eat! For some reason I tend to pick places that don’t have anything Jason really likes, it’s not that he’s a hard man to please, I just pick some really strange places sometimes!
One more random thought
Okay so I get everyone is curious about the chick who was kidnapped and her whole story and so the media is hounding anyone that knows anything about the situation. (I mean come on, yesterday they pulled out the google maps of the street, complete with creepy child molester van.) But what irks me, is that from the word go, the step father, who was accused of taking her, has been crowing from the rooftops. Dude shut up. You aren’t helping, and if you really cared you’d close ranks like the rest of the family is. In fact, I would suspect that you don’t really know anything that close to the situation, you are just blabbing. I swear every article I read has direct quotations from this guy, who I don’t’ think has even seen her yet. Today was all about how her kids thought she was their sister and how he thinks they are going to need a lot of therapy. No shit Sherlock. Can we start ignoring this guy already?
I do, but I don’t
Alright, I supposed I’ve rambled on enough. I should probably stop trying to avoid this day and just do it already. I’m just afraid it’s still going to suck. On the plus side though, I did get my new “smells” for my scentsy pot, so I have that to look forward to, when I get the gumption to walk across the parking lot and get them. Here’s hoping your guys day started off better than mine-we are almost to the weekend, hang in there!
Love (to have just given up on the day and stayed in bed),

Never face facts; if you do, you'll never get up in the morning.
Football Season is descending
I’m about to lose massive control of my television. I’m trying to convince my husband to buy a cheap flat screen from Walmart so that I can at least can have a clear picture to watch upstairs after I get booted from the HD box and the 52 inch downstairs…But we’ve already started watching preseason games, and while some nights it’s nice to just turn off my brain and read a book (more on that in a second) I know I’m going to start to get antsy when the DVR starts filling up with episodes of my favorite new shows.
A Secret History
Okay so I’m ALMOST done with this book and I really, really have been enjoying it. It makes me want to go back to college and do it on the East Coast. Here is a description of the book for you from Amazon. It’s basically about this guy who comes from the west coast and falls into this group of students and they kill one of the students and it’s about the groups down falls apart from there.
Seriously?
The Duggars are having ANOTHER KID?? I have no words. I really, really have no words. Michelle should try the words “get off me” though.
Celebration
Um…have you guys seen Madonna’s new music video? It looks like an ad for pelvic thrusting and air humping. It’s like a series of crotch shots and inappropriate touching. Yay let’s celebrate crotches! They should have had the Duggars in on this video, they like ultimately celebrate the crotch. Somewhere in there is Madonna’s daughter, because it’s totally appropriate to associate your daughter with crotches and ripping the shirt off the DJ while ramming your tongue down his throat-LIFE LESSONS ARE BEING LEARNED HERE! The dude she is making out with is the 23 year old model. She bought him that DJ stuff and lessons to look professional at it. A couple days ago they came out with a teaser of this video with Paul Oakenfold in it. You can find it here. Apparently he was too creepy and got cut out of the final edit. I do really like Madonna’s glasses though, how long before Target is knocking those off and I can get some?
Another survey
I apologize profusely people, but I made myself a word count goal here, and as my life last night consisted of laying on my couch and watching football and pouting, I really have nothing worldly to blog about…
Dogs or cats?
-Cats. I actually don’t mind dogs at all, I just mind the work. Cats don’t need my assistance to use the restroom. And since I’m not responsible for the cat pans, it’s even nicer.
Do you mind if your pets sleep in bed with you?
-No, Baggy sleeps with us every night. I do mind if Willow thinks she needs to sleep right on my legs there by using all 20 pounds to cut off circulation to my feet.
Are you or anyone you know worried about losing their job?
-I hope not! But they just sent out a scary email around here about cutbacks and no overtime.
Extend your left arm all the way out, what do you touch if anything?
-The left hand side of my l-shaped desk
Are you a saver or spender?
-Spender by habit, saver by force of marriage
Do you believe in kids having chores?
-Hell yes, my mom didn’t call me the “Haus Frau” for nothing
When writing a letter, do you prefer to hand write or type?
-I prefer to type, but I recognize the care put into a handwritten letter, I try to always send hand written thank yous.
Ellen/Oprah or Regis and Kelly?
-Ellen. She is hilarious, and if I had the space, I’d DVR her show every day.
Do you watch The Bachelor? If so, is this the best season? you’ve seen?
-No I don’t. Kathy and Dan did send me in as a candidate though. I got rejected, I hold a grudge.
With postage going up soon, will that change your swapping habits?
-What exactly are swapping habits? And postage is going up again? Geezzz. It’s like they are trying to go out of business.
Have gas prices gone up a lot where you live?
-Yes, bastards, I thought that was supposed to stop with Obama.
Can you touch your toes, without bending your legs?
-No, I used to be able to.
What’s the temperature there?
-Outside right now I don’t know, but this morning it was nice and cool and perfect for staying in bed! In my office it’s freezing and I’m wearing my coat, but that’s typical.
Do you prefer to walk around barefoot in your home? Socks? Shoes?
-Barefoot, although for the last two Christmas’s I’ve gotten those fuzzy hydrating socks and I kind of love wearing them now on Sundays.
Are you a night owl?
-Yes, very much so.
On how many hours of sleep can you function?
-8, I need 8 just to function, I need like 10+ to be pleasant.
Do you own or rent?
-Own. A lovely green house on Olive Street.
Which was your best birthday ever? How old were you?
-Oh let’s see, last year’s birthday was pretty nice, Seth had a dinner for me and all my family and friends came and then we went back to our house and had a cake my dad made. I would really LOVE to tell you how old I am, but I can’t remember-seriously, I get it confused all the time. I told my doctor the other day the wrong birthday. I’m like 26 or 27…
Do you prefer baths to showers? The other way around? Both?
-I prefer baths, I try to do it every night at the end of the day to relax and read my books, plus I like to get into bed all fresh and clean. No one likes sleeping in their own filth.
Finish the sentence-on my last vacation I went to _____.
-Orlando and Disneyworld! It was awesome! I think about going back every day. I would have never believed Disneyworld was truly the happiest place on earth. I totally understand now why some people are obsessed with it.
If you have a great day who is the first person you tell?
-My husband.
If you’re a Mom which is the best part of being one? If you’re a Dad, answer the same way?
-The best part of being MY mom is probably my incessant drama and nagging, right Mom? And the best part of being my dad is doing the stuff around my house and fixing things I break. Or eating my food. Right?
Humidity or heat?
-Neither, blah. If I had a choice I’d live in Seattle or Antarctica.
When you were a bride did everything go the right way on your special day?
-Absolutely not, does it ever? My wedding day had lots of highs, and a couple of lows-what vague memories I can make out of my wedding day, it was all a blur. The next day and the year that followed with all the drama that occurred because of my wedding day has really made it much harder to want to recollect wedding day memories. But there are a few memories that really stand out that make me all melty and swoony about it, I try to focus on those.
Which are/is your favorite magazine(s)?
-Eh, I don’t really subscribe anymore. I get Rolling Stone, but I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite. I only read like half of it.
Do you clean your house or have someone come in to do it?
-I wish I had someone come in and do it. That would be GRAND. It’s not a very big house, I’m sure it’s not a huge expense, but my husband also makes me bring my own candy and drinks to the movies, so I’m sure I wouldn’t be getting a house cleaner unless a fairy godmother brought one.
If you had one superpower, what would it be?
-I’ve thought long and hard about this thru many boring meetings, and I would have the power of duplicity. I would touch something I liked (clothes, books, items in a store) and say “duplicate!” and the exact thing would show up in my house. That would be my super power.
Gross
My phone cord looks like a dirty sewer worker came up from the sewer and took my phone cord and flossed his rear end with it, so I’m going on a hunt for a new one to steal. I never used my phone (see I do it in the working world too, avoid my phone) before yesterday and now that it’s in my line of sight its making me worry about germs and H1N1, because that’s all over the news. So I’m off to combat illness thru the phone! Here’s hoping we see you tomorrow and I have more interesting things to talk about!
Love (waking up and snuggling down deeper into the covers),
